The Oban 14 Year Old is a distinctive single malt Scotch whisky that reflects the maritime charm of its coastal Highland origins. Distilled in some of the smallest copper pot stills in Scotland, the whisky gains depth and character through a slow condensation process in wooden worm tubs exposed to the salted sea air. This unique process imparts a distinct complexity and depth, making it the perfect companion for indulgent pairings like salted caramel.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Immediate and confident with a warm, sweet, and waxy profile. Notes of almondy fruit cake mingle with the richness of Christmas pudding, balanced by malty cereal and a hint of aromatic orange. Briny traces and hints of smoke and menthol emerge later, creating a complex bouquet.
  • Palate: Dense and spicy, yet sweet and refreshing with menthol notes. Rich fruit-bread, hints of orange zest, and clove offer a chewy and comforting experience before evolving into a minty, green apple freshness. Adding water reveals Oban’s signature fruit, malt, and maritime hints, balanced with drying spice.
  • Finish: Long and complex, starting syrupy and gradually drying with elegant tannins reminiscent of dark chocolate. The finish cleanses with a fresh pine note, concluding with a hint of cedar smoke.

Awards: The Oban 14 Year Old has been recognized globally, earning gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and The Scotch Whisky Masters.

Serving Suggestion: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn Glass to appreciate its depth, or with a splash of cool spring water to open up its signature fruit and maritime notes.
