The Return of a Classic
The Trinidad Topes, a favorite among cigar enthusiasts, first gained fame as a Limited Edition in 2016. Its immense popularity led to its swift disappearance from shelves, making its return to Trinidad’s standard range a moment of great excitement for aficionados.
A Name Steeped in History
The Trinidad brand is named after the picturesque 16th-century city of La Santisima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), located on Cuba’s south coast and honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A Legacy of Exclusivity
Founded in 1969, Trinidad cigars were initially exclusive, reserved as gifts for foreign diplomats, akin to the prestigious Cohiba. It wasn’t until 1998 that these sought-after cigars were made available to the public, and even then, in limited quantities.
An Expanding Range
The Trinidad brand began with the Fundadores size. In 2003, it expanded to include the Reyes, Coloniales, and Robusto Extra. This expansion came with updated livery and cigar bands to reflect the brand’s esteemed status. In 2009, the Trinidad Robusto T further enriched the brand’s offerings.
Crafted at El Laguito
For several years, Trinidad cigars were produced at the renowned El Laguito factory, home of Cohiba. Here, the uniquely fragrant and aromatic medium-flavored blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone was perfected.
Tasting Notes
The Trinidad Topes is a robusto that is plump and pigtailed, offering a slightly firm draw. This cigar reveals a rich, earthy, and spicy smoke that unfolds into notes of macadamia nut, vanilla, and toasted almond. Balanced and elegant, it delivers a refined smoking experience.
