Operated as an independent boutique blending and bottling house under the umbrella of one of Scotland’s most venerable whisky firms, established in 1844, Whisky Works takes pride in making intriguing and high-quality whiskies accessible to all. The Quartermaster is a prime example of this philosophy, crafted with meticulous care and a spirit of innovation by our Whisky Maker, Gregg Glass.
 
A Unique Blend of Four Elements
 
The Quartermaster skillfully combines four transatlantic influences to create a uniquely layered drinking experience:
 
Highland Grain Whisky: Initially matured in ex-Caribbean rum barrels to infuse sweet spice flavors, with a portion further enhanced in Pedro-Ximénez sherry casks for added depth and richness.
Speyside Malts: One malt aged in classic American white oak and another in sherry butts, blending harmoniously to augment the grain with notes of dried fruits and nuanced complexity.
Tasting Notes
Nose: A vibrant start with almonds and rum-steeped peaches, leading to subtle hints of ginger and coffee.
Palate: A fresh and lively profile that features a beautiful mix of ginger, dried fruits, and a clear, sweet undercurrent from the rum cask influence.
Finish: Long and satisfying with a continuation of dried fruits and a delicate spiciness from the sherry cask finishing.
